…. A Fine Romance–a history of weddings through the 20th century
Weddings will be the theme at the Paddington Antique Centre from June 10 for a month. We will have wedding dresses from 1910 through to the 1980s including all the major eras of the 20th century. More than 40 gowns will be displayed on rotation with a number of gowns available for sale after the exhibition.
To complement the dresses, the showcases will display engagement rings and wedding appropriate jewellery, as well as crystal, glass, ceramics, silver, buttons, linen and lace. These will evoke the feel of romantic, vintage-style weddings with plenty of ideas for gifts as well as table styling supported by Gemma at Inspired by Love Events.
A wedding cake is being supplied by Cakes by Judy C in Ashgrove and flowers by a local florist. The displays will start on the footpath, include the foyer and move into a space upstairs in the Centre. They will include interesting historical information on how many of the traditions associated with weddings came about. There will be some beautiful wedding photos from the 1800s through to the 1980s. Roaring Twenties – Vintage Wedding Car Hire and the fabulous 1928 Chrysler, Bonnie, will be joining us on selected dates throughout the exhibition.
The idea of a trousseau will be explored and include lingerie and luggage.
Today modern couples are incorporating things from the past into their weddings in many different ways. Estate engagements rings can be stunning and are highly sort after, particularly Art Deco styles. Table settings and reception themes often incorporate a vintage theme because it has a softness and romanticism. A great way for couples to add something special to their day is to incorporate old and interesting things in a new and fresh way.
June at Paddington Antique Centre offers a fun way for brides, couples and anyone involved in an up-and-coming wedding to get some great ideas but also for the general public to reminisce about that special day in everyone’s life.
